Secretary’s Corner – January 2

This week I have been pondering timing. God’s timing is always perfect, but it is so far out of our understanding and control. I tend to get impatient with how fast or slow things are moving. “Oh, once I’m older, then I can do that. Only two more years!” Yet if God’s timing is perfect, then we shouldn’t wish it away.

When I was little Dad would tell us the story of the little boy who had a ball of yarn that was the length of his life. He was impatient to grow up, so he pulled the string a little and BAM! He was older. First it was just a few days, then a few months, then years at a time. He pulled that string so far in his haste to grow up that he ended up losing some of the most important parts of life. Before he knew it, he was old enough to do all the things he wanted to do, but he could never get that time back.

Like that boy, we don’t want to wait. We pull the string, yanking away our lives in our haste to reach “the destination”.

So wait. Wait on the Lord. He knows the time you have. Let Him guide that time.
